About Crossbow Meetings
Crossbow meetings are for those who are struggling, and trying to fight the passions. It is for who desire to have a community of support because, as it says in the book of Proverbs, “Where no counsel is, people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14).
As stated in the classic book, Unseen Warfare, we should not rely solely on ourselves. As stated wisely by Solomon in the Old Testament: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” Having the support of others who are fighting sin and the passions is essential for progress in the spiritual life. Having co-strugglers, friends or accountability partners to turn to when the struggle gets hard can help curb and even dispel temptation. Being in the presence of other strugglers, hearing their stories, and developing relationships with others on this journey, can provide encouragement, strength and inspiration.
Let God Arise Prayer
Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered; and let those who hate Him flee from His face. As smoke vanishes, let them vanish; and as wax melts from the presence of fire, so let the demons perish from the presence of those who love God and who sign themselves with the Sign of the Cross and say with gladness: Rejoice, most precious and life-giving Cross of the Lord, for Thou drivest away the demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ Who was crucified on thee, went down to hell and trampled on the power of the devil, and gave us thee, His honorable Cross, for driving away all enemies. O most precious and life-giving Cross of the Lord, help me with our holy Lady, the Virgin Theotokos, and with all the Saints throughout the ages. Amen.
HYMN Lyrics
Blessed art Thou, O Lord, teach me Thy statutes.
The choir of the saints has found the fountain of life and the door of
Paradise. May I also find the way through repentance, I am the sheep that
was lost, call me up to You, O Savior, and save me.
